WOYWW 235 Ikea Safari

Another week has flown by,  must admit quite a productive one, where does the time go? I managed to make a couple of baby cards this week, created my own pattern paper for the blue one, using distress inks, water colour pens, stamps and clear embossing powder. Used a Spellbinders die (no idea what it's called) and  the embellishment was made using a Kaisercraft stamp and 6 layers of embossing powder. All the products used on the pink card were Kaisercraft. Anyone would think I like Kaiser products....LOL

A few people commented on the rosette item in the background last week so I thought I'd include a picture today... not very exciting, my attempt at making a centre piece for Christmas Celebrations no doubt it will end up a UFO. However, I did start making a storage unit for Tria Markers, each section will hold 12 pens, it's still a work in progress and it's possible it may morph into something else entirely by the weeks end.... I like to keep things interesting, in reality I never know what it will be until it's finished...

Now let's move on to my adventure of the week. The Safari at Ikea began like any normal day, (don't worry, no guns) a leisurely drive, hot summers day, you get the picture... Arrived at our destination, my hubby told me this store was big, but I had no idea, I was in retail heaven... Retail therapy for Eliza had just kicked up several notches... We had a ball, (the Bobsy twins on a mission, scary) but I must say I've never experienced so much mind changing, a few times we forgot what we'd chosen and had to retrace our steps...

Eliza (you have to love her, she's gorgeous) would see her future workspace, only to walk ten paces and find another solution...considering this store is half a kilometre long, the ten paces bit, works out be a lot of mind changing... not to mention,  measurements went out the window as the size of the desk was growing... LOL .

Hilarious, fabulous day, at one stage I thought GF was going to wet herself, if you haven't already guessed, of course she was laughing at me and the out of control trolley. Dare I say (no offence intended) it had to be a man who designed these wretched things, my arms barely long enough to hold, wait for it, two handles to steer. Thank goodness my arms were not shorter otherwise I'd be turning in circles in the middle of Ikea.

Word of Wisdom: Make note of the level where you parked your car before you enter the store. Ensure you exit the elevator with fully loaded trolley on the same level as the said vehicle...do not follow the males directions... also lazy male does not offer to push fully loaded trolley, he would rather smirk at short armed granny crashing into walls like a bee in a bottle...need I say more...

Thanks for stopping by, please leave a comment.  Why not pop over to see Julia at the Stamping Ground and participate in the best blog hop ever.

Happy crafting everyone, hope you have a great week and most of all happy WOYWW.

  7. I have the same challenges being little myself, that's why I always take hubby when I need to go to Ikea. Down side is that he keeps saying no to things I want! Love your cards and that Chrissy decoration is gorgeous.

  15. What is it about Ikea carts? Here in the U.S. they're also ornery. It's a great place with load of wonderful ideas, but bring your walking shoes.

Those are really sweet cards and I love your marker storage so far.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and for the nice comments.

    Happy Woyww,

  19. Ah yes... gotta love Ikea! Our local one, if you the do the route through the shop as marked on the floor, is 1.5km! And that's not allowing for going to the loo, retracing your steps because you've changed your mind / got lost / lost the children / having lunch etc! Great fun. #49

  20. I have never been to an Ikea store. I think the closest one to me is in Denver (an 8 hour drive). Your two cards are very cute. I like the doily Christmas tree.

Thank you for visiting me already!

    1. The Tria's are alcohol markers, easier to use, you can blend beautifully with 2 colours. They also have 3 nibs, paintbrush, wedge and super fine. Sorry starting to sound like an advertisement....LOL

  22. Well, what a week you have had. Ikea - hmm! Love it, when my bank account has lots in it (a VERY rare occasion!). Trolleys - why do they ALWAYS go the opposite way to that which you need to move???!! Glad you had such a lot of laughs.
Margaret #60 - and thanks for visiting last week - I didn't do too well in the reply stakes!

  23. Hi Dede, Thanks for visiting me and wow those baby cards are absolutely wonderful, I always seem to struggle to with designs for baby cards, so I am always in admiration of people who can design such lovely ones. And I love your tree, it looks brilliant.
As for Ikea we I have a trip to Ikea planned for December 16th so daughter and I will having a really good day, if we can persuade OH to leave us alone to enjoy ourselves.

  24. Oh, my! I've never been in Ikea, but I'd have similar trouble maneuvering the cart, from the sounds of it. I love your little white Christmas tree. I'm just barely getting over here to say "thanks for the visit" from last week's WOYWW and it must be just about Wednesday again for you in your time zone. Best, Laura
